Great News

I just got a mail in my mailbox that I passed my exams. Great news, now im curious about how many points I got. But that doesnt really matter because I passed. Up for the next 3 courses.

Also news on my computer. They let me know it was repaired. I went to get it, but asked if I could test it there first. I could and had no problems. They apoligised for noting the problem wrongly on monday and I didnt have to pay anything anymore, since I already payed on thursday.

computer and exams part 2

The exams went ok. The one that I was worried about, was the 'easiest' one, because I expected worse. Next week we will know if we are passed. So ill keep you all updated.

The computer is another story. On tuesday I got a message I could retrieve it. I didnt have the time untill today to get it. Got it back, did another faultcontrol by windows and bam a BSOD. Anyways, took it back to the store. Seemed the guy from monday, didnt note the problem totally. I hope they fix it good now.

computer and exams

Hi all,

I took my computer back to the store today. On saturday I got some blue screens. The code on the blue screens lead back to a hardware fault. Because I was freaking out again, I taught it was a good idea to bring it back to the store to get it fixed.

Im having 3 exams this week, tomorrow, on wednesday and on thursday. The one of tomorrow is the biggest one, and im a bit worried about it. We need to give loads of examples in this exams, and it is very hard to think of good examples. About the other two exams i am not so worried, but i dont think i will sleep well this week.

On friday eve, we are having a little party with our class, to celebrate that we took these exams. We dont know if we passed yet, the teachers decide on saturday morning. I think we will know on monday.

Ooohh, I so hate that people put their favorite music on the blog. When I am freebie hunting, there isnt a hunt that I have to put my sound off, because of the music. Not that I dont like music, dont get me wrong, but if you have 2 or 3 or 4 or ... blogs with music open at the same time, what a "kakofonie" like we say in Dutch. Even sometimes when you have 2 posts open from the same blog, again with music, to leave a comment, you still have to put the sound off.

Since this month is the breast cancer awareness month, you might want to click on the button below to help fund some free mammograms.

Please take an annual mammogram if you are in your fourties or older. If breast cancer is detected early, you have a bigger chance to win from it. Young woman who have breast cancer in the family, please go to your doctor and ask him/her what you best can do. In my family we have the breast cancer gene, and if I had it, I luckely dont have it, I could have special screening, because breast cancer is difficult to detect on mammograms with young womans.

Its saturday again. After a very busy week, I went to the wedding party last night. It was a great party, very good food and a great dj.

This weekend will also be very busy, I have a list of things I have to do for school. And I should do some shopping today. I think I will start with the shopping first so that is done.

I have some great news. My best friend is engaged and will be marrying between Christmas and new years. Im so excited. Im going to try and see if I can get hold of some nice pictures of them too, and then make a great layout and then let it print out and frame it, or let it print on canvas. Ive seen it somewhere where they can do it. I hope i can find the site ive seen it on, and it isnt too much money.

This combination of teaching and going to school myself is a big adjustment.

I just revised what we have seen in one class this last 2 weeks and my mind is going to explode i think. So much new stuff to take in. And we have some hard tasks for this class also.
I should do some revising for another class but I think I will try to do that in the weekend, that shouldnt be so hard, well I hope it isnt lol.
Until now we only had 2 classes, but from next week we have 3 different classes. That is for the next 6 weeks, so im hoping they go quickly.

I hope I will find some time to design this weekend. I should also start on the website I promised to make.

Im so happy, I have my computer back. They have replaced the motherboard. Luckely I had bought the extended garanty when I bought the laptop, so now I didnt have to pay anything.

Now im installing all the programs, and doing alot of settings. I hope I cant get into designing this weekend.

Update on my computer and school

Hi all,

Ive phoned the computer shop again and my laptop is back to the factory and they think it will be back next week. Im so glad it is something to do with the hardware and not with my programs, because I need all of them for school and for the designing.

My shedule for teaching is a bit changed, so it is going to be hard for the first 8 weeks, but then it will get easier. On tuesday I have school from 8.30 am till 12 am, and 1 pm till 4.30 pm, after that I need to be in school to teach myself from 6.15 pm till 9.45 pm. That will be Word I am teaching. On wednesday I need to go to school from 8.30 am till 12, at 12.30 pm I need to be in school to teach myself till 4 pm and then again from 6.30 till 10 pm. In the afternoon im teaching the basic stuff, and in the eve im teaching vista. On thursday I have to be in school 8.30 am - 12 and 13 - 16.30 pm. And then on friday morning from 8.30 am till 12 I teaching internet. It is going to be busy. After 8 weeks there is a holiday from a week and after that wednesday morning I dont have to go to school anymore. So that will be a bit easier. I think im also going to ask how many times I may be absent so I can a longer sleep or some more time to prepare if needed.

My Holiday

Hi all,

I promised you all some pictures from my holiday so here we go. On the first day and second day we did some sightseeing in Trier. Here are some nice prictures from the Porta Nigra, the Dom and the Amphitheater. We visited more tho, and of course I took loads of pictures.

The next day we went to Bernkastel-Keus. We made a boattrip on the mosel, after that we took a little bus to the ruin. Below is a picture I took while in the boot, and then the next one is one from inside the ruin.

The next day we went to visit Idar-Oberstein. We visited a mill where they made the stones into something they could sell. This was a very nice place to visit, with explanations in english. After that we visited a mine. This is the only stone mine in Europe that you can visit. It was very interesting, sadly the pictures I took arent very well and need some touching up.

The next day we went to Echternach, where we took a toeristic train ride through the town, visited a prehistoric museum and also visited an roman villa. That last place was very interesting, you could walk over the walls and look at everything.

Last day when we went home, we made a little stop in Luxemburg, where we also took a toeristic train ride.

I will post more photo's, especially from the stones, and the stone mine when I touched them up.

Vacation

Tomorrow we are leaving on a little holiday tomorrow. Me and my mum. She said on thursday that we keep that a yearly event, now that she has a new boyfriend or even if I get a boyfriend. I said that was a great idea. This is the fourth year we are doing this and I love it and my mum too. Sometimes it is only a couple days and it is never far away but it is away. We think that there are very nice places in our own country or the surrounding countries and you dont have to go far to see new things.

I hope to post a couple photo's when we return.

I spoke to the store about my laptop. They arent sure what is going on. He just closes on them when they are working too. He says he is going to reinstall my windows and if he doesnt have the same problem it is one of my software programs, he was thinking it was maybe PSP. But I never heared similar problems like that when PSP installed. Im not sure what to think about it. Im thinking of buying a new computer but this laptop is just over an year old.

And of course now I see something I am interested in. Pillowgirl has advertised for QP Designers with her kits. I would love to do something like that. And she is a great designer. Ggggggrrrrrrrr

Mothersday

Hi all,

Today it is mothersday in this little part of the world. It is only in the province Antwerp, not in the whole of Belgium. Ive read in the paper that the only other country that celebrates mothersday on August 15th is Costa Rica.

Ive bought a flowerpot to bring to my grandmum. She doesnt like you bringing stuff, but I think she is glad someone thought of it. Im always alone there on this day. She said to my grandfather "see what nice flowers An brought". My grandfather had a black eye, he fell with his bike when coming down from a brigde. For the rest he had some bruising but he is ok.
Ive also bought a small flowerpot for my mum, I had bought her a new ladyshave on monday already.

Im feeling a bit down today. I think it was that I looked foward to a quiet evening with my mum, but her boyfriend is coming over. Well at least next week on holiday I have her to myself for 6 days.

We leave on sunday for Germany. We are going to Trier, that is about an 3 hours drive from where we live. We already went there on holidays when I was little, 20 years or more ago.

After again some problems I have brought my computer back to the shop. I hope they can fix it. If it had to go back to the factory, they couldnt tell if it would back before september. I hope so I need my laptop for school. So now I am without an computer at home. Luckely I can use the computer at my mum's house and on weekdays I can go to my volunteerwork to use the computer there.

Hi all,

I promised to share a couple of my dotpainting projects. The first project is a duo of dotpainting. I still have to think of someone to give them to.

The second project is for a gift for an friend of my mums, who invited my mum and me for a party. It is a tray with their both names and the names of their gurls. The letters are stuck on the tray and then the tray is dotted. The tray is varnished to protect it, so it was difficult to take a picture.

Yesterday we went to my cousins wedding. In the afternoon we went to the church to see them getting married and at the evening the party. They got married in a lovely little church. Heared some new news from the family, but nothing spectacular.

Hi all,

Just letting you all know what is going on.

I decided to phone the helpdesk yesterday, and they said to do a recovery. So now my laptop is back in the position when I got it. I need to reinstall all my programs. Im having a big migraine attack from all this mess so decided to leave my laptop alone for the day. I went to my volunteerwork to check my mails, and write this update.

My computer is being funny again today. I wish I wouldnt wind myself up over it. It still works. I do think I have to turn it in to let it fixed tho. I have paid for an extended garanty when I bought this laptop so I better use that. Hi all,

I have been so tired the last couple weeks. Not fysically but in my head. Im not sure if it has been the heat from the last couple weeks or the tension from working is coming out. It has been great today, weatherwise, just 20 degrees and no sun, and still im so tired. I think it will be a combination of the two. I have been worrying alot about my mum lately so that will be one of the factors also.
In short about my mum, she is in love and i am very worried she is going to be very hurt. The guy seems ok though but my mum was mentally unstable in the past, although divorsing my dad helped her alot, i am still worried.

Anyways there was a good film on telly today and I recorded shrek 2 so I can watch that next week. I did some dotpainting. Im going to make a little dotpainting for Yve. Yve is the "kinesist" (I cant find the english word) for my mum. She has daily sessions with him to exercise her arm. After the removing of her breast, they also took the lymphe glands in her arm pit so the fluid in her arm doesnt get transported naturally anymore and that are the exercises for. On the 16th she is going there for 10 years. I will post a picture when the dotpainting is finished. I still have till next weekend to get it finished.

Tomorrow we need to go vote for the federal parlement and senate. Here in Belgium you are obliged to go and vote. Since the first time I had to vote I keep voting for women. I read a very good article about it yesterday. It said the next: "It is almost sure the new premier/first minister is coming out of the flemish part of Belgium and not from the walloons. Just because there are more flemish people then walloons. Then the next premier should be a women, because there are much more women then men in Belgium. Still the next premier will be a man, why?"
I do keep on voting on the women because there arent enough women in the parlement and senate. Same goes that there arent enough women in high positions in the company world.
The voting itself is like one minute, it is so short for something that is, what i feel, important. You show your identity card and your the letter the state send you. You will recieve a little card that you have to plug in the computer, on the first list you vote on the persons or list you want, then you confirm, then the same for the second list and also confirm. Then the little card comes back out the computer and then you need to put it in a big box, and then you get your identity card and the letter back. On the letter you will recieve a stamp as prove you have voted.

Well these were my ramblings. For those who read the whole way through, thanks for getting to know me a little bit better.

Ive made this layout this eve of my new shoes. You can click on the image to see more detail. The kit used in this layout will be zipped up and shared tomorrow.

The journaling says: "Well my feet. I have large feet. Large feet runs in my mums family. I have a European shoe size of 44. I always have troubles finding female looking shoes. Because I don’t have a lot of money to spend, I always look for shoes at the guys section but now I found a store where you can order bigger sizes for reasonable prices. It has still a small collection but I find the collection is growing more and more. You can order them online and let them send to a local store, where you can go and fit them first before you buy them. The shoe you can see at the photo is one of a pair I have bought there yesterday, and I love them."

Hi all,

As you might know, im a teacher computerskills for adults. This week is exam week. In my exams the students can use their book, ask questions at me or at their fellow students. No problem.
Now today i had a situation. Today it was the Dreamweaver course and they had to set up a site from instructions I have given them. In this class there are 2 quite young students (i think they are 21 or 22) who always acted like they knew everything, ... Today I saw them struggling with the exam, and they asked a question or 2 and then at once they were finished. Later I went to collect the files from their computer to copy to my USB stick so I could mark them and I saw they were missing a few files. They were supposed to end up with over 10 files and they had 4 files in their folder. Then I went to look at the pages and saw they just copied the pages from a fellow student, who knew of nothing. They werent so smart to copy the whole site and then I wouldnt noticed anything, but now when they only copied those 4 files, their site wouldnt work properly.
I dont know how to handle this situation. I would like to flunk them, because the other students worked at the site to let it function and they just copied it. If I have to mark the 4 files they had, they are flunked. I know the boss of the school dont like if we flunk people. So I dont know. I mailed a colleague to ask what I should do.

On another note. The class of mondaymorning had some lovely gifts for me. I teached them how to make cards on the computer, so they made me a card with their photo's on them and their names. Im going to frame that. A couple of those students work at Estee Lauder, so they had bought some products of theirs for me. I love the box they products came in. It has shiny and not shiny parts, like some parts are varnished. I would love to know a method to make that digitally.

Update:
Im going to flunk those boys, theft is wrong.

Here are the pictures I promised. These are my latest dotpaintings. I tried to have more texture on the canvas by cladding the canvas first with plaster. The pictures arent great, I couldnt really use my flash because it would reflect because I varnised them to protect the plaster.

Hi all,

On thursday my mum took me to Scherpenheuvel (that is the local Lourdes). She wanted to give a Mother Maria sculpture. But of course the ones they have there are very religious and not my taste. Untill we found one in the last shop we visited there. A lovely sculpture of Mother Maria with Jezus in her hands carved in wood. It was a bit expensive but im glad my mum bought it for me. I have it standing besides the picture of my grandmum in the living room.
My mum just arrived, I will be back with pictures of the dotpaintings laters.

I apoligize for the long wait for a new freebie. It has been a somewhat hectic week and im glad i have a couple days off. Next week there are still exams and then after the marking im off for 3 months, besides some meetings and gatherings. I do find 3 months is too long for me personally, so im going to try to do some volunteerwork also. Oh yeah im going to subscribe at digiscrapdesigner also. I finally managed to get the money together, thanks to all who donated and bought from my store. I also want to say thanks to everyone who take a second and leave a comment. I love reading those. I am a bit sadden if I see the number of people who downloaded the freebie and look at the number of comments I recieved. It is sad lots of people dont take the time to say thanks. A new qp exchange started over at Let Scrap. We are using a kit called Color Me Happy from ConnyB. It is such a colorful kit, I couldnt resist it and made 2 quickpages from it. I always make a quickpages so there is plenty of room to add a title and journaling, so you can use it for every occasion.

Hi,

I want to say Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there who celebrate Mothers day on this day. In this part of Belgium (not in the whole country, just in this little part) we celebrate Mothers day on August 15th, altho schools (and shops of course) celebrate it also on this day, because in August there is no school. Why August 15th? Well that is the day Mother Maria was recieved into the heaven. It is the tradition here.
Also Mother Maria was a big part of my grandmothers life. I have a couple little Maria's (for on a necklace) that she and my mum brought back from Lourdes to remember her by. My mum and her went to visit Lourdes I think a year before she died, she wanted to see Lourdes again before she couldnt anymore. Im glad she did because like I said Mother Maria was a big part of her life. I remember when my mother got ill, my grandmother gave my mum a little Maria for support. My mum still has that. I also went to Lourdes, together with my mum, when I was 12 years old. The whole story of Bernadette and Mother Maria is very facinating. And when you are there you are amazed of the impact that such a place has on you and other people.

Ribbon Frames

Hi all,

These are ribbon frames, it looks like the frame is folded out of one ribbon. In the zip there are 3 frames. I hope you like them and find a use for them. You can download them here (badongo) or here (senduit).

Lots of people are asking how I did the frames, since I used them on the QP on the QP exchange on the Let Scrap Forum. So a short explanation: I pasted the ribbon 4 times, and placed them on the correct place. Then I cut of the corners with a 45 degrees angle. Then i took my dodge/burn tool and made it like it was folded.
